NARR8 is an exciting mobile app and content channel that delivers a diverse array of interactive stories and motion comics for its readers. So when they decided to promote their extensive list of interactive comics and novels to 100,000+ attendees at New York Comic Con, they turned to Marketing Genome.
As first-time exhibitors, NARR8 needed to make a big statement on the scene. Competing with the latest and greatest in pop-culture content, NARR8 was ready to flex some muscle and heavily promote their newly available app to the public. And that’s just what we did.
We created a custom new york comic con booth complete with a larger than life interactive iPad surrounded by an inviting 10'x30' exhibit. The booth layout itself was a suitable complement to the interactive iPad, which was responsible for continually drawing in droves of crowds.
Our goal was to create a scenic trade show booth design experience that would stop attendees dead in their tracks and peak their interest to learn more. To accomplish this, the iPad was designed to be 10-feet tall. High enough to be seen over the heads of average height attendees but small enough to reach the top with an extended arm.
The iPad was programmed to stream live demonstrations and give Comic con attendees the unique opportunity to demo the app in real time. The response was overwhelming as thousands of fans demoed the app and walked away with a new source for motion comics and interactive stories
Today, a unique trade show display like this may not get a second look but when we look back on the project we remember the display was designed after a 4th generation iPad. For those readers that may not be “Apple Geniuses” that’s late 2013. To take it a step further… 4 years ago the technology for giant tablet displays was virtually non-existent. No one had it. Neither our competition nor NARR8’s were utilizing the technology.
Of course, the iPad came with its own set of challenges but was just a small hurdle for our custom booth fabrication team. A bigger challenge was exploring a way to not only fit the display but also to do so in a manner that did not overwhelm the booth itself.
We decided to make the iPad the centerpiece behind which was a spacious storage closet for promo materials, snacks, jackets, etc.
While attendees waited in line for their chance to stretch their arms on the full-size app they had the opportunity to explore it on standard size iPads which were tethered to custom branded counters, monitored by booth staff and salespeople. The other half of the new york comic con booth was dedicated meeting space for high-profile attendees, artists, interviewees, and VIPS.
Our experience with NARR8 was one for the books. Not only were they a pleasure to work with, they gave us the opportunity to experiment with groundbreaking technology never before seen at the show and challenged us to develop the best way to incorporate it.
Today NARR8 is still alive and kicking. Our guess? Because they are incredibly innovative, creative and as a result, have a killer product that sells. Not that they didn’t get some quality trade show help too…
To say we are a seasoned NYCC trade show company is an understatement. Year over year, we gain more and more of a presence at trade shows in NYC. We believe in modesty but when it comes to our roots, it’s hard to not brag a little. But we also keep in mind that its companies like NARR8 that has helped get us to where we are today. Our clients are first and foremost for without them, we wouldn’t be half what we are today. Thanks guys!
