Surf Expo, the longest running boardsports and beach/resort lifestyle trade show, draws lovers of surf, sand, and sun indoors twice a year to check out the newest trends in fashion, board making, and consumables. The bi-annual convention, held in Orlando, Florida, draws more that 2,200 hard goods and apparel exhibitors with over 20,000 attendees. With buyers from 7,000 international (including Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean) and national buyers, it is the number one order-writing show in the industry.
Who goes to Surf Expo?
Some of the biggest names in the industry attend Surf Expo to show off their newest fashion lines, designs, inventions in 9 different categories. You might recognize exhibitors such as Quiksilver, Roxy and GoPro but the show is open to even the smaller companies like New Jersey-natives Ergo and Jetty. And besides specialty retailers and 400+ foreign stores, big name companies like Costco, Disney and Sandals Resort have a large presence as well. The sponsors extend from magazines such as Transworld to exhibitors like Sanuk while the partners involved are SIMA, Board Retailers Association, etc.
Why should I go?
Not only will you receive and interact with business opportunities both nationally and internationally but people in the boardsports industry have a reputation of partying so you can expect that Surf Expo will provide entertainment for its attendees and exhibitors. There is a skate park that is open to the public attached to the September show’s location along with a small wave pool that will be doing water-sport demos, fashion shows along the runway, award ceremonies, and you can bet that live music and probably beer will be available at the show. In addition to what is going on at the show, Surf Expo has partnered again with Sanuk to bring the industry’s party at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon which allows pre-registered attendees to party, relax, and have a good time with all involved in the industry.
The Surf Expo promises to be a great balance of business and fun for all of its participants. It has a little bit of something for everyone who expresses an interest in the boardsports and beach/resort lifestyle industries. Just check out this video from the January show.
